Crime Time ist Prime Time. Ein Fall, der bis heute nicht wirklich aufgelöst wurde: zwei Kinder wurden ermordet und es gibt eine Hauptverdächtige, Medea, die Mutter der Kinder. 

Im filmisch-theatralen Setting, zwischen Verhörzimmer und Kaffeeküche, ermitteln bei Tatort Medea keine gewöhnlichen Kommissar*innen, sondern Größen der Kunst- und Literaturgeschichte: von Euripides bis Elfriede Jelinek, von Christa Wolf bis Lars von Trier. Ihre Aussagen widersprechen sich, ihre Theorien gehen oftmals weit auseinander – doch alle suchen nach der Wahrheit hinter dem Kindermord.   

Wie jeder Tatort baut auch dieser darauf auf, Beweise zu sammeln, Zeug*innen zu befragen, den Kreis der Verdächtigen einzugrenzen und das Motiv der Tat zu ergründen. Es ist eine Spurensuche anhand einer Vielzahl an Konzepten, Inszenierungen, Konstellationen und Konflikten des Medea Stoffes quer durch die Kunstgeschichte die mehr über die Ermittler*innen verrät als über die Figur Medea selbst.

Crime time is prime time. A case that has never really been solved: two children were murdered and there is one prime suspect, Medea, the children's mother.   

In a cinematic-theatrical setting, between the interrogation room and the coffee kitchen, it is not ordinary detectives who investigate the crime scene in Medea, but greats from the history of art and literature: from Euripides to Elfriede Jelinek, from Christa Wolf to Lars von Trier. Their statements contradict each other, their theories often diverge widely – but they are all searching for the truth behind the child murder.   

Like every crime scene, this one is based on gathering evidence, questioning witnesses, narrowing down the circle of suspects and investigating the motive for the crime. It is a search for clues based on a multitude of concepts, productions, constellations and conflicts in the Medea material throughout art history, which reveals more about the investigators than about the character of Medea herself.
